Former Coronation Street villain Brian Capron revisits his childhood home in Suffolk for the first time in 40 years and recalls growing up amid a tense atmosphere of secrecy in which his absent father was never mentioned. John Peel narrates.

TV presenter and ex-footballer John Fashanu returns to his childhood home in Shropham, near Norwich. Twenty five years after leaving, he recalls how he and his brother Justin began their sporting careers while living there, and voices his regret at the bitterness which destroyed their relationship, a division that had still not been mended when Justin committed suicide in 1998.

Clement Freud returns to his Devon boarding school. Escaping from Nazi Germany in 1934 with his parents, the eight-year-old future writer, broadcaster and politician arrived in Britain, and despite speaking no English was promptly dispatched to Darlington School, where he was ruthlessly bullied.
