In Barato, Hijikata's group encounters an unexpected ally. Meanwhile, in Sapporo, Asirpa's group and Ushiyama stay at a hotel run by the alluring Ienaga.

Sugimoto's group witnesses Inkarmat's fortune-telling skills at a gambling den. Later, they make a deal with a rancher to take down a monstrous bear.
