Determined to unmask the culprits, he begins a meticulous analysis of their methods, identifying one of the robbers as a police officer from Bologna. Thwarted by his superiors, who prefer to accuse Slavs and terrorists, the inspector decides to infiltrate the gang, composed of unscrupulous police officers with a history of violent practices. Having gained their trust, he brings them to justice after much difficulty, even managing to identify a spy within his own police department.
