The Golden Dream

Two small commercials advertising the department store Magasin du Nord. The first is proclaimed to be ‘An amusing little film recorded by Nordisk Films Kompagni’ with the title ‘The Golden Dream’. Having seen a fashion show in Magasin du Nord, the lady of the house dreams of owning a dress from the store’s model salon. She entreats her husband, who sticks to his ‘no’. After a long and scary dream in which he is being chased by mannequins from the Model Salon because he does not want to give his wife a dress, he changes his mind. This is followed by an excerpt from the Storm P. film ‘Peter and Ping in the Department Store’. (Stumfilm.dk)

This a farse based on a true story. Love, jealousy, hatred and reconciliation. I remember once reading about a couple with a conflict of this type in which the tension of their relationship degenerated into violence and afterwards in an apparently harmonious ending. This is a more elaborate extension of I dreamt I was human.

A desperate journey in the heart of Thessaloniki. Seven Iranians, each one for his personal reasons, leave their homeland and embark on a life journey. Europe can provide them with a different life. It can provide them with human rights. An obligatory stop on the way is Greece. There, they meet each other, they are imprisoned and they realize that “democracy” isn’t what they imagined. They try in any way they can to flee the country, living to the fullest every last moment they spend here. Thessaloniki is their new homeland for now. So, they try to become one with the city, to experience “Greek democracy”
